Can You Download A Game On Ps4 Without The Disc

The ps4 uses the disc to basically say hey.

Can you download a game on ps4 without the disc. Given that knack for example has a digital copy available i know that it is possible for the game to run without a disc. Then you re gonna go to library on the ps4 where it holds all of your games even if they re uninstalled. When you play a disc game the ps4 uses the game app pkg that is on the ps4 probably because the read speeds from the disc would be too slow.

For your downloaded games yes. You really do own this game if this wasn t the case you could essentially buy one disc and share it among many people and they would all have the ability to play the game if they install it to their ps4. Digital purchases are linked to your account.

Basically is the knack install from the disc the same exact thing on your ps4 as a knack digital download. Are there ways to download a game onto your ps4 so you don t need the disc without paying for it on the store. The disc needs to be inserted to check that you own the game the game itself is not run from the disc.

This step is important because if you go to the ps store it will tell you you ve already purchased and you can t download. I m led to understand all ps4 games download the full game to the hard drive as part of the install but the dvd has to be in the machine because it basically acts as the verification of ownership otherwise there d be little to stop you installing it and passing it on to a friend who does the same thing. Thanks for your time user info.

First remove the disc and uninstall the game from your ps4. Stack exchange network stack exchange network consists of 176 q a communities including stack overflow the largest most trusted online community for developers to learn share their knowledge and build their careers.
